JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Dismantle, inspect, rewind, and reassemble AC and DC electric motors, generators, and alternators up to 11kV.
• Carry out stator and rotor rewinding, slot insulation, coil forming, varnishing, and oven baking.
• Diagnose faults such as short circuits, grounding, and insulation breakdown using appropriate electrical testing instruments (e.g., megger, surge tester, hipot tester, and winding resistance meter).
• Perform impregnation and curing of windings using vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) or conventional methods.
• Maintain correct alignment and balance of rotors and shafts.
• Ensure quality and precision of winding data, coil connection diagrams, and insulation class compliance.
• Perform high-voltage testing, phase rotation checks, and insulation resistance tests after repair.
• Record all repair activities, test results, and material usage in service reports.
• Follow all workshop safety and environmental procedures in accordance with company and marine class requirements (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s).
• Support onboard troubleshooting and installation work as required.
• He should be aware and follow the Company’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment System procedures and Work Instructions which are relevant to his activities.
• Dismantle/strip damaged or unserviceable electromechanical equipment, log in existing data & re-assemble after repair.
• Rewind various kinds of electromechanical equipment, including but not limited to single-phase, three-phase, AC fields, wound rotors and transformers. Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding.
• Will be responsible to complete & generate company required paper works related to his assigned job.
• Will be responsible for all tools & equipment assigned to him.
• Operate specified repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, Hipot, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
• Perform all other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor, Sr. Supervisor & Manager of the department.
JOB REQUIREMENT
• Must have a background in the winding of AC/DC machines
• Able to copy & draw connection drawings, measure wire sizes and log existing data. Should be able to do dismantling, assembling motors and generators.
• Able to use testing/measuring instruments required in the winding field,
• Should be able to speak & write English.
• Preferably with Marine experience.
• Having good academic education & technical qualifications with minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in the same field or having minimum of 5 year experience in the same field
