Position: Marine Engine Department Head 
Job Location: Dubai

Job responsibilities: 

·       Lead, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of marine engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
·       Plan and allocate manpower and resources to meet project deadlines efficiently.
·       Develop training programs and ensure continual skill enhancement of technical staff.
·       Maintain high morale, discipline, and teamwork within the department.
·       Oversee all maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities for main engines, auxiliary engines, and propulsion systems.
·       Supervise major overhauls and troubleshooting for leading brands such as MAN, Wartsila, Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, Yanmar, MAK, etc.
·       Ensure accurate diagnostics and root cause analysis of mechanical/electronic engine issues.
·       Approve work scopes, repair procedures, and final reports.
·       Ensure compliance with Class, Flag, and OEM standards.
·       Manage spare parts requests, technical documentation, and engine performance reports.
·       Liaise with project managers, planning, QA/QC, procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless execution.
·       Interface with shipowners, superintendents, and OEM service representatives.
·       Attend client meetings, discuss technical proposals, and provide expert guidance on repair methods and timelines.
·       Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and professional service delivery.
·       Enforce compliance with company HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and quality management systems (ISO, Class, Flag).
·       Review and approve work permits, risk assessments, and method statements.
·       Monitor workshop calibration, tooling, and inspection standards.
·       Ensure all documentation meets audit and classification requirements.
·       Prepare annual budgets, cost forecasts, and departmental performance reports.
·       Monitor financial performance, job costing, and profitability of engine projects.
·       Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and OEM partnerships to enhance department capability.
        Participate in management meetings and contribute to strategic business development initiatives.

Job requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in marine engine maintenance and overhaul, with at least 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role. Fluent in   English, Arabic is a plus.
  • OEM certification (e.g., MAN, Wartsila, Caterpillar, MTU, Cummins, etc.) is a must.
  • Age: 35 years and above
  • Proven track record in shipyards, drydocks, or marine service facilities.
  • Strong background in handling high-speed and medium-speed marine diesel engines.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and reporting tools.
