Position: Specification Writer

Experience : 8 –10 years’ experience in UAE in engineering consultancy company in Specification Writer and he should have handled residential building projects

Education: BSc Architecture.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Review drawings and other documents to enable writing and editing architectural specifications per industry standards established by CSI MasterFormat.
• Conduct product research, including review and evaluation of product literature, manufacturer’s company profile, testing and material standards, building (international and local codes, and sustainability rating systems (Estidama, Green Building and LEED) as necessary to ensure that materials and methods are appropriate for each project.
• Interpret project design requirements and translate those requirements into materials, methods, equipment, procedures, installation, and testing necessary to provide specification narrative descriptions which are used to procure, install, and erect building components.
• Collaborate with project architects, managers, and designers in product and material selection.
• Perform materials, product and finishes research. Coordinate with design teams and consultants and assist with material and system constructability analysis.
• Prepare and review the procurement and contracting requirements, including Division 0 and Division 1 sections. Coordinate those requirements with technical sections of specifications.
• Coordinate and review engineering and consultant technical specifications and compile all into complete Project Manual.
• The Ability to provide technical guidance in architectural design in addition to specification writing is a plus.
• Stay current with product and system development, new methods and materials, code changes, and industry trends.
• Act as a resource for technical questions, technical detail review, submittal review, and material and product selections.
• Maintain organized records of specifications, revisions, and related documentation for each project.

Job Requirement: 
 
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, diploma in architectural technology or another construction-related field
5+ years of experience writing specifications
Computer skills with an emphasis on Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat
Worked in prior building construction settings, including but not limited to architecture firms, architecture-engineering firms, construction management or specification consulting firms
Extensive knowledge of building codes, industry standards, structures, and materials standards
Superior written and verbal English communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, working with others in a team setting, communicating directly with Owner and Contractor contact, and working on multiple projects at the same time 
Active Member of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is encouraged
LEED AP certification is a plus
Experience with Revit is a plus
Project management and project architect experience is not required but will be favored

Salary AED 12000-18000 + standard benefits as per UAE law
